Kennebecasis Valley 39th Annual Quilt Show Registration Information

The following is the KVQG 2019 Quilt Registration information for their upcoming Quilt Show (September 18-21, 2019).

This contains all the details you will need for quilt registration and also includes the definitions of our new quilting categories ( Modern and Art).

Please remember that you submit one quilt per submission.

Registration opens July 1st2019. You may not register a quilt before this date as the registration form will not be activated until then! You can access the registration form via the link in the letter, on our KVQG Blog, and also on Facebook. 

The last day to Register via the link will be midnight August 16th, 2019.

Dear Fellow Quilter,
The Kennebecasis Valley Quilting Guild is now planning its 39th Annual Quilt Show and Sale.

  •   Show Theme: “Nature’s Inspiration”
  •   Dates & Times: Wednesday, Sept 18th from 7-9
    Thursday, September 19th from 12 pm to 8 pm Friday, September 20th from 10 am to 8 pm Saturday, September 21stfrom 10 am to 4 pm
    Location: Island View Lions Centre, 9 Market St., Quispamsis, NB, E2E 4B1
  •   Take exit 141 off Hwy. #1 and follow the signs.
  •   Regular Show Admission is $5.00 per day or $10.00 for a 3-day unlimited pass.
  •   A special feature again this year is the “Quilter’s Walk” a raffle draw for many theme baskets.
  •   Special Display – “Colours from Nature”, our guild's Challenge.
  •   Awards Night Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Prize winning quilts will be announced and prizes
    awarded. There will be hors d’oeuvres, punch and the opportunity to purchase the quilts and items from our sale tables. Tickets for the general public will be $5. Winners not attending will receive ribbons Saturday afternoon.
    On-Line Registration Process
    This year, KVQG is using online registration. There will be no paper submissions. Click on the link KVQG RegistrationForm 2019 and enter all the information requested. Once completed “hit” the submit button. Link is also available on the blog. KVQG Blog The last day to Register via the link will be midnight August 16th. Please remember that you submit one quilt per submission. Once submitted you will receive a “confirmation” by email. If you have any questions, please call Sally Reibling 648-4824 for assistance.     Entry Criteria:
  •   We accept Large and Small quilts for sale or display.
  •   We do not accept quilts that have been in previous KVQG shows.
  •   Panels, tied quilts and quilt tops will not be accepted.
  •   As per 2019 CQA requirements, quilting stitches are not required to be visible on the back of wall art quilts.
  •   We reserve the right to refuse or not hang a quilt that does not meet our requirements. For example, strong
    perfumes, smelling of smoke, or dog/cat hairs, etc.
  •   For non-KVQG members, there is a limit of 5 quilts (large and/or small) per entrant.
  •   Non-members please include a $5.00 entry fee for the first quilt and $1.00 fee for each additional quilt.
  •   Quilts need a fabric label attached to the back with entrant’s name, name of quilt & size.
  •   All quilts over 200" perimeter must have a 5” (minimum) hanging sleeve with the top and bottom of the sleeve
    sewn securely to the top of the quilt back or they will not be accepted. Quilts longer than 102” will be adjusted
    at the show so that they do not drag on the floor. Sleeves are not necessary on small wall hangings or crib quilts.
  •   Please be aware that quilts entered in this show will be photographed.
  •   KVQG retains 15% commission on non-member sales.
  •   All entries must include a short Quilter’s Artistic Statement giving credit to maker, quilter, pattern, kit,
    inspiration and techniques
  •   NOTE: Large quilts are 240" perimeter or more - Small are less than 240" perimeter.

*A Traditional quilt is one made using well-established techniques, blocks, patterns or designs.
** Traits of a Modern quilt include use of negative space, improvisational piecing, solids or modern prints, minimalism, asymmetry and updating of classic quilt blocks.
*** Art quilts include non-traditional materials and techniques such as fabric painting, thread work, photo transfer, felting, or machine embroidery. The design may be abstract or realistic, as in a landscape, still life or portrait.
First Quilt – Founding Members' Award - Quilt made by entrant; quilted by entrant or another person Youth Quilt - to be made by an entrant under 18 years
Kit: Quilt assembled from a pattern with all materials provided

Only Judged Quilts are eligible for the Special Awards with the exception of the People’s Choice Awards. CQA judging guidelines can be seen at: http://www.canadianquilter.com/pdf/CQA-Quilting-Standards.pdf
Entry must be done online no later than midnight August 16, 2019. Online registration link will not accept entries after this.
Please read and then complete your entry carefully! Some suggestions to help in filling out your registration:
  •   We have added your email address. This will allow us to send you a copy of your Quilt Registration data.
  •   If you have entered a large quilt and it will not be ready for the Show, please let us know as soon as possible to
    allow for planning layout for hanging quilts. Sally Reibling 648-4824
  •   Members entering/selling items are expected to help at the show.
  •   Also please note that insured value cannot be more than the sale price.
  •   If you have a crib quilt that is not for sale and/or you would like it Judged, enter it as a Small quilt.

    Delivery of Quilt - Persons submitting quilts are responsible for delivery on Monday, Sept 16 between 10am and 4 pm to the Island View Lions Center, Market Street, Quispamsis. Receipts will be issued at that time.
    Quilts are to be picked up ONLY on Saturday, Sept 21 between 4:45 pm and 5:15 pm at the Island View Lions Center. Quilt receipts must be presented to pick up your quilts.
