Monthly Meeting August 26, 2019

Our August meeting got off to a slow start but gradually the room was full of chatter and the whir of sewing machines as members arrived and got set up to sew. This evening we welcomed three visitors and as always, we hope to see them back at future meetings as members.

The Tiny House blocks continue to come in and Giselle has declared that when the last kits are completed and returned, the top will be pieced.

A new Hospice block, Woven Scrap was introduced. All details can be found on our blog under Charity and Comfort Quilts.

Clara worked on her colorful project!
A welcome visitor to our meeting!

Pat won last month's Block Lotto so she introduced the next month's, Arrow, a block inspired by one found in a copy of "Modern Patchwork".

During our short housekeeping meeting, we discussed our postcard swap (which is due at our September meeting), our collaboration with the GMQG to set up workshops, Kim's challenge (which is due at the September meeting. Kim says to bring it no matter what stage you are with it!), possible program ideas, and future Sew Days, and a potluck in December.

Now that our summer months are past, our monthly meetings will revert to 6:30 - 9 pm beginning September 30, 2019.

Everyone is reminded that our next Sew Day is Saturday, September 14th from 8 am to 6 pm and members and non-members are welcome! Bring your machines and projects - we have ironing stations and a cutting station. There will be door prizes and some snacks. $5.00 a person so come and bring a friend, or two!
