Monthly Meeting - July 29th, 2019

Maybe it was the heat of a hot summer day that drove the members indoors? Whatever it was, we had a great and enthusiastic crowd for our July meeting. Three local visitors joined us for the evening and Ottawa quilter, Paul Leger, home for a visit, came and sewed with us.

Our new meeting area is huge and comfy and was cool on this hot July evening.

Our Show and Share is placed on chairs on tables at the back of the room so members can look and ask questions at their leisure.

July's Block Lotto blocks, I Spy, were won by Pat Hume!

Since Pat won the July block lotto blocks, she will present the September block at the August meeting.

Giselle was busy counting all the blocks turned in for the next two Hospice quilt tops.

Giselle has chosen the next Hospice quilt so check under Charity and Comfort Quilts for the instructions for the Woven Scrap Quilt.

Jodi won last month's blocks and already has it pieced, quilted and worked on the binding at our meeting!

Deb has quilted her piece based on the same block as Jodi's. Do these gals every sleep?? And I am not sure what Deb is doing there..

Because Jodi won last month, she presents a new Block Lotto block this month.

The block is called Happy Trails and the video will be linked. Jodi is looking for blocks with black backgrounds in rainbow colors - a Pride Quilt!

The link for Happy Trails can be found under Block Lotto on the blog dashboard.

Does Deb sleep?? This is her finished 2019 Row by Row.

Check out those red kicks!! Paul joined us for the evening and we had a grand visit with him!

Carol's beautiful quilt, quilted with her famous and very perfect loops.

More of Carol's pieces.

Another of Carol's pieces.

And yet another Carol project!

Jennifer's bag made with blocks from the 2019 Sisterhood Swap Community Project organized by Happy Sew Lucky's Berene Campbell.

One of the finished Hospice quilts with a brilliantly perfect backing chosen by Giselle.

Another of Yvonne's beautiful quilts
A close up of Yvonne's work.
MMQG members and friends created this wonderful Acadian flag quilt to raise money for the Cormier family re-union in conjunction with Congres Mondial Acadien 2019.  Tickets are being sold - see next photo.

A friendly reminder that Kim's Challenge is due at the September meeting. You still have a little time to jump on board the Challenge bandwagon and participate. All details under Challenges on the blog dashboard.

A new challenge will be introduced in September by Maryse and Annette!
